XF Cross Flow Series

Cooling Tower Depot is your No. 1 source for crossflow tower designs. Every crossflow tower we offer is made with high-quality field-tested material and can be customized to meet your unique specifications.

Customers challenged with poor water quality benefit most from the crossflow tower design, which offers reduced drift and recirculation, a low static-pressure drop, and increased air flow per fan break horsepower. In order to achieve the most efficient tower design, CTDs design engineers evaluate the number of total cells, the individual cell dimensions, the type and density of fill, the motor horsepower, the fan diameter and number of blades, the water distribution system, the drift eliminators, and the pump head in order to provide the optimum design for your application.

Our crossflow tower series are available in Douglas-Fir, Redwood, fiberglass, and concrete structural designs. In addition, our towers can be fitted with a variety of splash fill or film fill materials, all of which are resistant to chemical and biological attack and contain UV inhibitors to protect against UV degradation. CTD uses only the highest quality welded wire mesh for our splash fill hanging systems. Designed and constructed for the harsh environments found inside cooling towers, welded wire mesh is available in both 304L stainless steel and PVC-coated galvanized wire.

How Crossflow Towers Work
The crossflow tower is an induced draft type tower with the fans positioned at the top of the tower drawing air in the side of the tower face, which enters perpendicular to the vertically falling water. The air and water intersect each other at 90 degrees thus the name crossflow. The water distribution system works by the water being pumped to the top of the tower to hot water basins and passes through nozzles located in the basin floor via gravity and enters the fill area where it splashes from fill baton to fill baton and mixes with the entering air.
